Keep the card growing. We are coming up on the biggest battles of the Wednesday Night Wars to date with AEW presenting Fyter Fest and NXT countering with the Great American Bash. That is going to guarantee four nights of big time matches, and one of the best ways to make the cards feel bigger is bringing in some guest stars. That is going to be the case for at lease one night.

One of the biggest advantages that WWE has is the depth of their roster. Their main roster has so many names floating around that they can put together all kinds of high level matches. There are so many options out there that they can even send people down to NXT, which is what they are going to do this week. In this case, it is an NXT legend who has been around lately.

As announced on WWE.com, Sasha Banks will face NXT Women’s Champion Io Shirai on the first night of NXT’s Great American Bash, Wednesday July 1. This will be their first singles match against one another. Banks is a former NXT Women’s Champion and currently one half of the WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions. She is scheduled to challenge Asuka for the Raw Women’s Title at Extreme Rules next month. Shirai won the title in the main event of Takeover: In Your House and will defend against the winner of a July 1 four way match on July 8.

They’re both on a roll at the moment. Check out Banks and Shirai in action:

Opinion: This is an interesting way to go and I’m not sure how it is going to go. You don’t want either of them taking a clean loss so there is a very real chance that we will be seeing some kind of a screwy finish. An appearance by Asuka or whomever is going to be challenging Shirai the following week could make an appearance, which makes for some interesting possibilities.
