Two become one (twice). There are a lot of titles under the WWE banner and some of them have been around for a long time now. Holding one of those championships can mean a lot for a wrestler, especially if they have not been a champion before. Sometimes those titles have to go away though for one reason or another and that is going to be the case again with at least two titles next month.
This week on NXT, a pair of title unification matches were set for September 4’s Worlds Collide event. First up, NXT Champion Bron Breakker and NXT United Kingdom Champion Tyler Bate agreed to face off for the unified NXT Title, with Bate making it clear that the United Kingdom Title was going away. Later, NXT Women’s Champion Mandy Rose and NXT Women’s Champion Meiko Satomura agreed to face off in a triple threat unification match, along with Satomura’s #1 contender, Blair Davenport. Both contracts were signed to end the show.
Opinion: This is the kind of card that you had to expect, if nothing else due to WWE more or less telling you that would be the case last week. The NXT UK titles are going away along with the brand, so this could be a lot worse of a way to go. At least we should get some big matches and we very well could get some new stars made in the process for a double win.
