Kenny Omega vs. Kazuchika Okada II Confirmed

Seven stars? We’re about a third of the way into the year and the clubhouse leader for Match of the Year is Kenny Omega vs. Kazuchika Okada for the IWGP World Title at “Wrestle Kingdom XI”. The match was given an unheard of six star rating (on a five star rating scale) from Dave Meltzer and the question was when would they have a rematch.

It turns out we now know that answer. Earlier today at “Wrestling Dontaku 2017”, Okada successfully defended his title against Bad Luck Fale. After the match, Okada called out Omega for a title match at “Dominion 2017”. The match is now official for the show, which will take place on June 11.

Opinion: While I didn’t think the match was as great as it was made out to be, it certainly was one of the best I’ve seen in a very long time. That being said, I’m not sure they’re going to be able to live up to the expectations, which is the case with almost any great rematch. Omega winning would be a major moment, especially with New Japan making its North American debut less than a month later.
