He would be a big deal. For the better part of twenty years, mainstream wrestling has been a monopoly owned by WWE. No one has come close to challenging them in a very long time and for all intents and purpose, no one is doing so at the moment either. WWE is still miles ahead as they have the most recognizable stars in the wrestling world. However, AEW does have Chris Jericho and things have not exactly been even in the Wednesday night ratings battle between Dynamite and NXT. AEW has momentum and that might be drawing the attention of a top WWE name.

Over the weekend, thirteen time WWE World Champion Randy Orton made a post to his Instagram showing him looking at a sign that said “elite” and tagged Jericho, both members of the Revival, Riddick Moss, Elias, Cody and Luke Harper, most of whom are either in AEW or have expressed interest in heading there. There is no word on when Orton’s WWE contract is set to expire and there is a chance that this is meant to help him get a more lucrative deal from WWE when his next contract is negotiated. Orton is scheduled to be part of Team Flair at Crown Jewel.

Orton could be a big get for AEW for the RKO alone. Check out some of his best finishers:

Opinion: Being realistic, I really don’t think Orton would consider going to AEW outside of a huge offer. If Orton makes the jump, he becomes the biggest star the company has by default and I’m not sure if that is what he wants to do at at thirty nine years old. Orton is a big star in WWE and will be welcome there for life if he wants to stick around so it would be quite the jump. I don’t know how much money Orton is looking for or if AEW would be interested, but it would seem to be a situation where AEW would get more out of Orton that vice versa. Anything can happen though and that makes things more interesting.

Do you think Orton will make the jump? Who else do you think will? Let us know in the comments below.
