His opinion matters. WWE is in a pretty unique place as they are the most international and powerful wrestling company in the world. This has been the case for a very long time now and there is no reason to think that it will not continue to be so for a very long time to come. It got there through a certain series of actions, some of which are rather odd choices by Vince McMahon. We now know another one of his quirks.
In addition to being the powerful and influential force in wrestling that he is, McMahon is also one of the truly unique people the industry has ever seen. Various people have discussed McMahon’s strange way of doing things and the often odd things that he has done on a regular basis for years. One of his weird things is a set of words he does not like. Now there is another to be added to the list.
Chris Jericho recently appeared on the Rasslin With Brandon F. Walker podcast and mentioned that McMahon cannot stand the word “rasslin”. McMahon will use the term to talk about something he sees as a bad idea and dismiss it. Rasslin is a term that has been associated with the southern style of wrestling, with McMahon instead opting to refer to the WWE as sports entertainment.
Rasslin is cool. Check out some old school rasslin:
Opinion: This is hardly surprising as McMahon has always wanted to get away from the old school southern style of wrestling. That being said, you also can’t argue with McMahon’s success. At the end of the day, the WWE is the biggest and most successful promotion in history so he is doing something right. McMahon might take things a little far at times, but what he has done has worked rather well over the years.
