I’d say she’s earned it. Back in 2015, the Women’s Revolution hit the WWE and changed women’s wrestling forever. The division had been known for matches that didn’t last more than two minutes on a good night and had no major storylines to speak of at any time. That was not the most well received style of storytelling and something needed to change. The change has taken place, and now the rewards are being reaped.

One of the biggest differences between the men’s and women’s rosters has likely been income. Without knowing any specific numbers, it would be surprising if the women’s division, which had no track record and was little more than filler content a lot of the time, made anywhere near their male counterparts. That is not fair, but it was a likely scenario. Today it seemed that a big name was getting a bigger deal, but that might not be the case.

Earlier this week, the Wrestling Observer Newsletter announced that Raw Women’s Champion Becky Lynch had signed a new contract with WWE for $1 million a year. While the exact length of the contract was not announced, a five year deal would have been likely. However, Lynch has since denied the story on social media, saying that she has not signed a new contract in years and that her contract is coming up soon.

I think it’s safe to say WWE will want Lynch to stick around. Check out some of her highlights:

Opinion: Here’s the thing: whether or not Lynch has signed a new deal at the moment is not all that important. She is going to be in WWE as long as she wants to be as she is one of the biggest stars in all of the wrestling world at the moment and WWE is going to keep her around. The fact that she is this big of a star is hard to fathom given where the division was just five years ago and I would be stunned if the money wasn’t coming with her new deal, however it goes.

What are you expecting from Lynch in the future? Who will take the Women’s Title from her? Let us know in the comments below.
