What’s Spanish for “not happening”? Over the last few months, Alberto El Patron (formerly Alberto Del Rio) has been one of the biggest free agents in wrestling. After a short stint in Ring of Honor, El Patron has been wrestling around the world with fans wondering when he might show up in another major promotion. That wait might be a bit longer.
According to Wrestlinginc.com,
El Patron’s potential TNA run has fallen through and he will not be coming to the company. Former TNA boss John Gaburick had been pushing for El Patron to come in but the push has been canceled due to the TNA authority changes. The two sides had been in talks last year but nothing was ever finalized.
Opinion: I’ve never been the biggest El Patron fan but I really liked his face run back in 2013. Why WWE insisted on keeping him a heel for so long isn’t clear but a run as a top face in TNA could have been interesting. That being said, there might not have been the biggest interest in him so this might be for the best. He seems happy traveling the world and wrestling a limited schedule so maybe he’s better off doing that.
