Squad reunion. There are a lot of teams and groups in wrestling today and some of them make a little bit more of an impact than others. That can lead to some big moments with some wrestlers getting to do a lot of things thanks to their partnerships. Sometimes those teams break up though, and it can lead to some different results. That would include a reunion, which is what we got this week.
The Women’s Revolution was not only an instant game changer for WWE, but it was also the start of something big for WWE’s women’s division in the future. That was the case when several new wrestlers made their debuts, with three of them coming in the form of a trio from NXT. The team did not last all that long, but they were around long enough to warrant a second pairing.
This week on Monday Night Raw, Ruby Riott and Liv Morgan reformed the Riott Squad, marking the first reincarnation of the team after they were split up last year in the 2019 WWE Draft. The reunion came about on the Kevin Owens Show, where Riott talked about finally breaking her losing streak last week and wanting Morgan there to share in her joy. Morgan came out and the two talked until being interrupted by the IIconics. A match was made with Morgan and Riott picking up the win.
It was quite the reunion. Check out the speech and their first match back:
Opinion: This is the kind of a team that might not have the best history together, but at the same time they did have a rather nice moment together with the reunion. I’ve liked Riott for a long time and while this might not be the big game changer for her career, it is a lot better than having random tag team matches with one tag team after another. This could work out rather well and hopefully it goes well for both of them.
What did you think of the reunion? What do you see for the two of them next? Let us know in the comments below.
