There are others out there. Last weekend, AEW debuted with their Double Or Nothing event. The show was very well received and the company is off to a strong start. There is more to it than that though, as the company needs to find an audience. At the end of the day, you can have the strongest show in the world but it does not matter if no one was watching. As it turns out, people were watching and we might know how many.

According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, approximately 98,000 people in the United States bought Double Or Nothing. The split is about even between traditional pay per view and digital pay per view. These numbers are expected to go up when replays are considered and do not include international numbers, which are not yet included. The United Kingdom was the second strongest audience in the world.

There was a lot going on with the show and this was a big part of it. Check out Jon Moxley’s post pay per view promo:

Opinion: All things considered, that’s not too bad at all. The fact that the show brought in a solid enough audience with virtually nothing other than their established audience is a good sign. At the same time, consider how many people watched the show through illegals means and will likely be watching the TNT show when it debuts this fall. I’d call it a success, and hopefully AEW can keep making things do better.
