This could have been a lot worse. Last week
we reported that Hideo Itami injured his neck and could be out for several months. Thankfully,
a new report from the Wrestling Observer says that Itami will only be out around two months and should not need surgery. This is on the lower end of the spectrum for recovery time.

Itami has been plagued by injuries since his debut in NXT as he only recently came back from missing over a year due to a shoulder injury. He was scheduled to team with Kota Ibushi in the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic but had to be replaced by TJ Perkins. Itami was also in the early stages of a feud with Austin Aries though they never had their first match.
While it’s an obvious statement, this is only good news for NXT. Itami seems to be cursed with these injuries but NXT TV is already taped for the next month so Itami is only going to miss another taping or so. When he comes back he can pick things up with Aries again and Aries can be in the tournament instead of starting a new singles feud. This really is one of the best case scenarios for Itami’s injuries.
What should Itami do when he comes back from injury? Should he stay face or turn heel? Let us know in the comments below.
