New York, here it comes. Summerslam is coming in just under a month, meaning they need to start setting up a few things to get us there in time. That means starting with a main event, which almost has to be the Universal Title match, seeing Brock Lesnar defend the title against someone. Therefore, it’s time to find a number one contender, which was taken care of on Monday night.
It was a heck of a fight too.
This week on Monday Night Raw, Roman Reigns defeated Bobby Lashley to earn the shot at Lesnar at next month’s Summerslam. The match was a rematch from Extreme Rules where Lashley pinned Reigns with a spear. This will be Reigns’ third title shot against Lesnar this year after Lesnar successfully defended the title against him at both WrestleMania 34 and the Greatest Royal Rumble back in the spring.
Opinion: I mean, if you just have to. I’m not sure why Reigns is getting another title shot at Lesnar, who barely ever shows up and now has his time monopolized by Reigns over and over again. This might be Lesnar’s last match with the company and for the life of me I don’t know why we can’t get someone other than Reigns. Hopefully Reigns wins the title here and we’re back to something resembling normal.
