The more things change. We are only a few days away from Tables, Ladders And Chairs. The show is one of those where the name tells you everything you need to know. It’s going to be about the weapons and having a lot of violence, which can make for some entertaining stuff. That being said, sometimes it comes off like WWE just throwing gimmicks at matches to fill in a checklist, and that may be the case now.
One of the longer feuds in WWE at the moment is the New Day vs. the Revival over various Tag Team Titles. They are two of the best teams in wrestling at the moment and their matches have been great more often than not. The teams have traded the Tag Team Titles over recent months with the New Day taking them most recently. Now we’re going to be seeing another version of the match.
WWE.com has announced that the upcoming SmackDown Tag Team Title match between New Day and the Revival at Tables, Ladders And Chairs will be a ladder match. This will be the first time that the teams have competed against each other in such a match. The Revival became #1 contenders by winning a four way elimination tag match last week on SmackDown when they defeated Mustafa Ali/Shorty G., the Lucha House Party and Heavy Machinery.
It was a big match. Check out Revival becoming #1 contenders and New Day’s reaction:
Opinion: This is something that they had to do as you can only do the same match over and over again before it stops working. The teams weren’t to that point yet but they were getting pretty close. It’s part of the problem with having such great teams. At some point you have to come up with something else, which is where the ladder comes into play. Now hopefully they can live up to the expectations.
