She’s self aware and knows how to talk. As the first full time female commentator for WWE, Renee Young is in an interesting place in the company. It’s certainly a tough job and Young has been trying her hardest, but her work has not been the most well received by the fans. However, she is still out there live on television every Monday night and that is going to get some people talking.
Over the weekend, a fan on Twitter insulted Young, saying that he was tired of WWE putting bad commentators on their television shows. Young responded with a joke, though another fan insulted her as well. This sent Young into an explanation, saying that she understands that she is “not great on commentary” but is working to get better at it every week. Young said that she was trying to improve, but it was hard to get better weekly on a global television show.

Here’s the truth. I know im not great on commentary, but it’s my job. I try to get better each week. People love to tell me how bad I am at it as if I think I’m great at it. So I should just quit? What would that say about me?Not easy to learn a skill on a gigantic global tv show

Young has been on the job for about a year now. Check out a look at her first night on Monday Night Raw:
Opinion: It’s true that she might not be the best commentator in the world but it is the same problem that a lot of younger wrestlers have. They go from the safe and small world of NXT to performing on the biggest wrestling show in the world. It isn’t unreasonable to see the learning curve hit them in a hurry. Young is in the same boat as all of them and while it is easy to blame her for everything, it isn’t exactly fair.
What did you think of Young’s statement? Who is the best commentator in WWE? Let us know in the comments below.
