It’s over. There are certain people in wrestling who feel like they are going to be around forever, to the point where it almost seems impossible to imagine them not being around any longer. It can make for a huge change of pace when one of them goes away and now that is the case, with one of the most important names ever going away under less than happy circumstances.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Beast Mode Deactivated? How Vince McMahon Lawsuit Could Prevent Brock Lesnar’s WWE Return
Earlier this week, a lawsuit was filed against Vince McMahon, alleging that he had sexually trafficked a former WWE employee to others in the company among other allegations. According to Deadline.com, McMahon has tenured his resignation to the TKO Group’s Board of Directors, vacating his role as Executive Chairman. According to Sean Ross Sapp, Nick Khan sent out a memo saying that McMahon will no longer have a role either in TKO or WWE.
Here is McMahon’s statement:
“I stand by my prior statement that Ms. Grant’s lawsuit is replete with lies, obscene made-up instances that never occurred, and is a vindictive distortion of the truth. I intend to vigorously defend myself against these baseless accusations, and look forward to clearing my name.
“However, out of respect for the WWE Universe, the extraordinary TKO business and its board members and shareholders, partners and constituents, and all of the employees and Superstars who helped make WWE into the global leader it is today, I have decided to resign from my executive chairmanship and the TKO board of directors, effectively immediately.”
Major news. Vince McMahon resigned from all roles with TKO.

There have been resignations from WWE before. Check out some of them over the years:
Opinion: Once that lawsuit was filed, it wasn’t so much would McMahon survive as much as a question of whether he would make it to the weekend. That lawsuit had one horrible thing after another and there was no way that WWE or TKO would want anything to do with him. McMahon was already on the way out but this was one heck o a shove to get rid of him for good. It had to be done after everything that he was accused of doing, but my goodness it’s hard to believe that McMahon is actually gone.
