The tournament it is a changing. Earlier this year, the Mixed Match Challenge turned into a pretty fun event with some good teams and entertaining wrestling. It was enough of a success that a second edition was announced earlier today. With it being the second version of the tournament taking place in a year, it might be a good idea to change things up a bit. That turns out to be the case.
WWE has announced some new details for the upcoming second season of Mixed Match Challenge in a press release by way of PWInsider.com. The second season will consist of the ten previously announced teams in a round robin format rather than the previous season’s single elimination style. The fourteen episodes will be thirty minutes in length and the finals will take place at the Tables Ladders And Chairs pay per view on December 16.
Check out the official announcement of the teams.
Opinion: I can certainly give them points for trying something different. You don’t want to just have the same thing (especially with some of the same teams) that you had last time. Switching it up to a new format allows a few different ways of presenting the tournament and there is a good chance that this will be an improvement. Keeping it at thirty minutes a week is a smart idea as well, as this isn’t the kind of show that you want to have overstay its welcome.
