It can happen anytime. There are all kinds of ways for a match to end and unfortunately some of them are not as planned. Every so often you are going to see something happen during a match that does not go according to plan and something has to be changed on the fly. That was the case again this week, as a wrestler was injured during the course of a match.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Under The Knife: Vince McMahon Reportedly Undergoes “Extensive” Surgery
The opening match of this week’s SmackDown featured Rey Mysterio vs. Santos Escobar for a future United States Title shot. However, late in the match, Escobar hit a dive to the floor on Mysterio, with the match going to a commercial after. When the show came back, a member of the medical staff was checking on Mysterio, who hit his head on the floor during the dive. The match was stopped, with Escobar being awarded the win. Following the match, Mysterio did stand on his power and shook hands with Escobar. There is no word on how long he might be out of action.
It could have been worst. Check out what happened, plus the two in matches they got to finish:
Opinion: This is something that happens every so often and hopefully Mysterio is fine. There is a chance that this is a storyline, but if it is, it is a well done one as it certainly looked like Mysterio got his bell rung. It looked like he got banged up in one spot and what matters is getting him back to full health. The whole thing seemed like a fluke accident and that is something that will happen every so often, no matter what is planned.
