What a weird reaction. There are certain wrestlers who are nothing short of beloved by their peers and you can see how much these wrestlers mean to others. It can often lead to some issues involving one wrestler protecting another. That can be even more ferocious if a wrestler is gone and unable to defend themselves, which might have been the case this week in a strange way.
This week, Samuray del Sol, formerly known as Kalisto, made his AEW debut on Dynamite. Del Sol sent out a tweet, saying that he spoke to John (Brodie Lee, real name Jon Huber, who passed away in December 2020) before his match, asking for strength in his match. Chris Jericho responded, saying that del Sol spelled Huber’s name wrong. Huber’s widow Amanda sent out a gif agreeing with Jericho before arguing with fans over del Sol’s mistake. Later, del Sol would send out a tweet apologizing to Jericho. There is no word on if del Sol will be back in AEW.
You spelled his name wrong. https://t.co/5xMymtqfzd

Yeah, not an excuse to spell someone’s name wrong if you’re name dropping
— Amanda (@MandaLHuber) November 4, 2021
Why is that?
I feel like it’s reasonable to expect a level of respect of spelling someone’s name right if you want to name drop them.

1) Brodie/ Brody was a stage name. Not his real name.
2) Miro spoke to me almost daily when Jon was sick.
3) Miro cried with me after he passed.
4) Miro continuously checked on me & my kids.

Spelling aside, he was talking about a pretty awesome wrestler. Check out Lee in the ring:
Opinion: This seems to be quite the intense response to what seems to be a spelling error. I’m not sure if Jericho and Amanda did not seem to agree with what del Sol said, but it certainly came off as a rather harsh response. It doesn’t seem that del Sol meant any harm with his initial tweet but it was not that well received. It would be nice to have del Sol back in AEW so hopefully everything works out between everyone involved.
Did Jericho and Amanda overreact? Would del Sol be a good fit in AEW? Let us know in the comments below.
