DIFF-ERENT! DIFF-ERENT! Over the last few weeks, Lio Rush has turned into a very different kind of character than you might have expected him to be. Rush is a big name on 205 Live but now he’s a manager/hype man for Bobby Lashley on Monday Night Raw. While the constant chanting may be horrible or entertaining depending on your given taste, WWE might have had a different plan in mind for him.
According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the original plans for Rush were to have him as the top heel on 205 Live as the talking villain who hid behind the monster Babatunde Aiyegbusi, who appeared in the Greatest Royal Rumble by his first name. The pair worked together for a bit down in NXT but it never came up to the main roster. Here’s a clip of the two of them together from last April.
It’s got potential.
Opinion: This is similar to what they’re doing with Rush and Lashley at the moment but with the focus on Lashley instead. The interesting thing is that they seem to have figured out the talent Rush has and that’s the kind of thing that matters most. As long as he gets to be on television doing his thing, he’s going to get somewhere in WWE and that has already been the case so far.
What do you think of Rush? How far can he go in WWE? Let us know in the comments below.
