Consider it international fallout. WWE runs a lot of shows around the world but there are only a few of them as controversial as their events in Saudi Arabia. For a variety of reasons, the shows are not exactly well received and that is the case every time WWE visits the country. The wrestlers have caught on to this and that may cause a few changes with the way the shows are run.
While there have been a lot of controversies associated with the series of shows, there has been no bigger than last year’s debacle after Crown Jewel. Following the show, for reasons that vary depending on who you ask, most of the WWE roster was not allowed to leave the country for more than a full day. It was clear that something had to change, and now we know what that change will be.
According to Wrestling Observer Radio, several wrestlers are not making the trip to Saudi Arabia this time. This comes after various stories emerged about what happened in Saudi Arabia for Crown Jewel, with so many wrestlers being stuck in the country for more than twenty four hours. It is still not clear what happened and as a result, many of the wrestlers are not making the trip. It remains to be seen if this is the case for the next Saudi Arabia show, which has yet to be announced.
Crown Jewel was a big show. Check out some of the highlights before everything went insane:
Opinion: I can’t say I blame any of the wrestlers one bit. Why in the world would you want to go back after such a big mess in the first place? It’s true that there are some big paydays to be made, but at the same time there comes a point where you can’t buy your safety. It’s not a situation that can be made to work properly and it should be interesting to see how things go with so many wrestlers just not going.
Are the wrestlers overreacting? Would you go if you were in their place? Let us know in the comments below.
