Just….wow. Wrestling is entertainment. You can cheer for wrestlers and you can boo them out of the building, but at the end of the day they’re real people with real lives. Sometimes you get to see a little bit of what happens behind the scenes of their lives and it’s not pretty. They go through things that we do every single day and this time, it’s something that is going to change WWE for a long time.
Tonight on Monday Night Raw, Roman Reigns opened the show and announced that he was vacating the Universal Championship due to having leukemia. Reigns said that he had been diagnosed with the disease when he was twenty two but it had gone into remission, only to come back now. Reigns made it clear that he is NOT retiring and will be back one day. There is currently no word on what this means for the Universal Title.
Here’s a happier moment:
Opinion: There are no words for this one. Whether you’re a fan of Reigns or not, there is no way to see this as anything other than a horrible situation. I have no idea what this means for the title or for the show going forward and none of that matters right now. What matters is Reigns getting better and beating this disease. Good luck Reigns, and I hope you Superman Punch it in the face.
