SmackDown 1000 has come and gone. Unfortunately, there wasn’t nearly enough time for WWE to thank or honor everyone who has helped the brand over the years. A lot of people were more concerned about The Rock’s absence rather than someone like Taz.
For several years, the former ECW World Champion was the color commentator for the brand alongside Michael Cole. Much like Jim Ross and Jerry Lawler, a lot of WWE fans grew us with Cole and Taz on SmackDown throughout the 00’s. For “The Human Suplex Machine” to be ignored by WWE on SmackDowns special night was a slap in the face.
Following SmackDown 1000, the man in question shared his opinion on the matter on an episode of “The Taz Show.” The SmackDown alumni had the following to say about his absence from the show and finds it ridiculous that he wasn’t even invited at all:
“It is ridiculous. I’ve got to be honest with you….I heard nothing and maybe they were waiting for me to reach them. That’s not how this cowboy’s wired up, so I’m not doing that. I have no desire to reach out to them to be at SmackDown 1000. It’s disappointing, not for me, but for the true wrestling fans that take pride and love the history of the business, the tradition of the business, the legacy of the business.
If you’re doing a SmackDown 1000 and you have a guy who was a color commentator there for well over 320 episodes, or whatever it was. I think that, I don’t know, maybe put a poll up. I don’t want to put it up on my Twitter because it would be weird; but, I’d love for someone to put a poll up. Who was the voice: the team voice of SmackDown? Was it Michael Cole & JBL or was it Michael Cole and Taz?”
Do you believe WWE should have invited Taz for an appearance on SmackDown 1000?
