It’s a good inspiration. Just like in anything else, you can only make one first impression in wrestling. If you don’t make a good debut, you rarely have a chance to make things better, though things can change a little bit if you work hard enough. Sometimes that comes from waiting a bit, which is what WWE has done with someone who made their big return this week on Monday Night Raw.
This week on Monday Night Raw, Shayna Baszler made her return to WWE and attacked Becky Lynch. The attack isn’t the biggest surprise, but it was the way that Baszler did it. For some reason, Baszler attacked Lynch by biting her in the neck, drawing some blood in the process. That was quite the moment and now we know where the inspiration for the angle came from.
According to Wrestling Observer Radio, the angle likely came from Paul Heyman, who is in charge of Monday Night Raw and is a huge fan of Freddie Blassie. One of Blassie’s signature moves over the years was to bite his opponents to draw blood, even filing his teeth to make them even sharper. At the moment, there has not been a match announced between Lynch and Baszler.
This was a creepy moment. Check out the bite, plus a bit of Blassie:
Opinion: This is one of the things that I love the most about wrestling. There is so much history in the industry with so many characters and characteristics that you can throw in to show the fans something that they have never seen before. A lot of those things have worked so well in the past and haven’t been seen in years, so try it out and see what can happen.
