That’s a plan for later. We are rapidly approaching WWE’s Money in the Bank pay per view and the show is going to be rather stacked. That being said, there are other major events later in the year that need to be built up as well. WWE also needs to get ready for Summerslam and now it seems that they have the plans in place for one of the bigger matches on the show.
This week on Monday Night Raw, Omos defeated Riddle in a Money in the Bank qualifying match. Following the match, Seth Rollins attacked Riddle, including laying him out with a Stomp. According to Wrestling Observer Radio, this is likely setting up a match between the two at Summerslam. Riddle is currently not scheduled for Money in the Bank and Rollins has already qualified for the men’s ladder match, making Summerslam the first pay per view where the match could take place.
Opinion: I don’t think it is any kind of a surprise that Riddle vs. Rollins is coming, but waiting for Summerslam is a bit different. It is rare for WWE to start setting up a match like this so far in advance but that is not a bad thing. Riddle vs. Rollins is worthy of a major pay per view slot and I would prefer to have it at Summerslam over Money in the Bank. Now just make the thing work.
