Well…yeah. Last year, Kurt Angle made a surprise return to WWE and was inducted into the Hall of Fame as the class’ headliner. However, there was a little more to the comeback than that as he wound up getting in the ring a few times, both on pay per view and at some house shows. It wasn’t anything full time, but seeing Angle again was a nice touch. Some fans wanted to see him wrestle full time, but there is a reason that we won’t be seeing that in the future.

According to PWInsider Elite Audio, the WWE isn’t going to allow Angle to get back in the ring full time because Angle is just too physically broken down to handle the struggle anymore. Angle will be turning fifty years old later this year and has suffered a long history of injuries, including when training for one of his return matches last year. Here are some of the comments with transcription courtesy of Ringsidenews.com:

“They’re not going to put Kurt in the ring on a consistent basis. He can’t do it. I am sure Kurt wants to be in the ring on a consistent basis. His body is breaking down.”

“Remember the last six months of Impact and then the couple of indie shows he was doing? It was the same five spots the entire match. He can’t be that Kurt Angle anymore. It’s like Shawn Michaels saying “I could come back but people need to understand it’s not going to be HBK.” It’s not fair to expect the Kurt Angle of 1999 to be wrestling.”

We’ll just have to settle for his greatest hits, which really are great.

Kurt Angle annihilates everybody: WWE Top 10, Nov. 4, 2017

Opinion: It’s really not a surprise at this point as Angle is older than most wrestlers and wrestled such a hard style over his career that he just can’t do this any longer. He’s old and banged up and there’s just no way to have him come back in the ring full time. I know Angle would probably love to do it again, but at this point it’s just the kind of thing that he needs to be stopped from doing because it wouldn’t be for his own good.

Do you think Angle will have another match? Who would you want to see him face? Let us know in the comments below.
