It had been previously reported that the XFL is making its return in 2020. However, how well-funded will this new league be?

According to a report from ESPNVince McMahon is expected to spend around $500 million to get the new league off of the ground. This is after he began funding the league by selling approximately $100 million in WWE stock and putting it into his wholly owned subsidiary Alpha Entertainment.

Most of the money will be used to play the salaries of both the players and coaches. Players are expected to make an average amount of $75,000 for the season; however, players who are more in demand will make much more than that.

Another significant cost will be insurance to cover player injuries.

New CEO Oliver Luck had the following to say regarding the investment:

“People were focused on the $100 million, but the truth is that doesn’t even get us to the 20-yard line. I’ve been at all levels of football, and the importance of a broad-based insurance program cannot be understated.”

Editor’s Opinion:

Dang, that’s a lot of money. However, they say that a big investment means a big reward, and I hope that this league takes off!
