It took long enough. Back in April on the Monday Night Raw after WrestleMania 34, Drew McIntyre made his return to the main roster and formed a new team with Dolph Ziggler. The two immediately made their mark on the show and became a united force, main eventing pay per views and winning the Raw Tag Team Titles. The question became when the two would split, and now we know the answer.
This week on Monday Night Raw, McIntyre dropped Ziggler and split up the team, saying that he had only been using Ziggler to get to the top of the mountain. The two went on to have a match where Finn Balor interfered and cost McIntyre the match. The loss was McIntyre’s first pinfall loss in a singles match since making it back to the main roster. McIntyre is scheduled to face Balor at this month’s TLC match.
It was a nice run while it happened. Check out how things went down between the former partners:
Opinion: This was long overdue. I’m not a big fan of Ziggler whatsoever yet I find McIntyre to be one of the best prospects in wrestling history. If they push him right, he could be an instant star and this is a big step to get there. I don’t think many people were expecting Ziggler and McIntyre to be a permanent team so it’s nice to have the team split up, as they should have been long ago.
What do you think of the team splitting? How far can McIntyre go on his own? Let us know in the comments below.
