There’s your nostalgia. Wrestling is often built on history and that can make for some pretty cool moments. There are certain things that fans are going to remember because they are iconic in the industry, with everything from music to moves to entrances managing to stand the test of time. Next week, we will be seeing something that has not been done in over twenty years but will be pretty fondly remembered.
One of the biggest surprises in AEW’s short but extensive history has been the debut of Sting. Following a less than stellar run in WWE, it was interesting to see Sting show up elsewhere and be treated like a far bigger star than he had been elsewhere. Sting is a lot closer to the end of his career than the beginning, but he will be turning the clock back again next week.
According to Reddit user SpaceForce1, who has a track record of accurately reporting AEW Dynamite spoilers, Sting will on a zip line from the rafters during the February 24 episode. There is no word on what Sting will be doing on the show otherwise, though he and Darby Allin have been feuding with Team Taz in recent weeks. During his time in WCW, Sting would repel from the rafters on a cable and once came from the stage to the ring on a zip line.
Sting knows a thing or two about entrances. Check out some of his better ones:
Opinion: I absolutely get the idea of something like this and to be fair, it is something that is probably a lot safer than Sting taking bumps at this point. Sting is one of the bigger names in modern wrestling so it makes sense to try and do something that will give the fans a nice feeling of the good old days. Hopefully things go well and it isn’t just a big nostalgia trip, but I’m not getting my hopes up on anything else otherwise.
