What could have been. Sometimes wrestlers and a promotion come into a show with some different ideas. This can make for some interesting situations, as there can be two very different ways of coming into a show, match or story. Unfortunately that can cause some problems if the two sides don’t come together, and that seemed to be the case again this week.

One of the more interesting stories of the week saw AEW’s Sammy Guevara turn down a chance to wrestle in Impact Wrestling as part of the company’s working arrangement. Guevara was said to have a problem with the idea pitched to him and did not appear at the Impact Wrestling tapings. Things could have been a lot different, and now we know what almost took place.

According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Guevara’s idea was to win the X-Division Title and leave Impact Wrestling as champion. He would then show up in AEW with the title, which would then be vacated and held up for a tournament. Impact Wrestling declined the idea and Guevara will not be working with the company either in the near or distant future.

Opinion: I can see both sides on this. Guevara did not like what was presented to him and did have another idea. Neither side was happy, but there is a difference between Guevara shooting everything down and having nothing as a replacement. That being said, there is something a bit off about Guevara winning the title, leaving, and vacating it that makes Impact Wrestling look pretty terrible, so it might not have been their best move either. At least things seem calm, but this could have gone a bit better.
