It was a matter of time for AEW. There has not been much going on in the world of live wrestling over the last few months. Aside from WWE, which is just starting to run live events again, there has not been a major live wrestling event in the United States in a good while now. That might be the case for a long time to come and that means a change had to take place for a major event. The change has now taken place.
AEW has a pretty interesting setup when it comes to the way the company presents its shows. For the most part, AEW is a television show company, with Dynamite running every single week. Other than Dynamite and the webseries Dark, you do not see much out of AEW as they rarely run pay per view events. They had one coming up though, but that is no longer the case.
AEW has announced that their upcoming Double Or Nothing pay per view will not be taking place in Las Vegas, Nevada as originally planned. The show will still take place, albeit at a different location to be announced later. Double Or Nothing was scheduled to take place on May 23, 2020 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena. AEW has already booked the venue for May 29, 2021. Tickets for the 2020 event will be honored at the 2021 event.
The event was a big one last year. Check out what this year’s show has to live up to:
Opinion: This is hardly shocking news at this point but good for AEW to be looking that far into the future. The company has a nice relationship with the city of Las Vegas and it is nice to see that continuing into the future. It is a shame that the pay per view will not get the big stage treatment but at least we are going to be able to see it in some form. That can be a nice distraction from everything going on, but it is still disappointing compared to what could have been.
