They who hath the gold. Titles are as simple of a concept as you can get in wrestling. A wrestler literally has a bright shiny belt that signifies they are the best at something. Other wrestlers are going to fight over them and the feuds as a result often drive the main storylines of a wrestling promotion. Now we might be seeing some brand new titles showing up soon.

Tag team wrestling is one of those things that a lot of wrestling companies insist that they care about and then rarely do. WWE is especially guilty of this as their tag team divisions are often the champions and then one or two other teams at most. AEW has been much better about this, and now we might be seeing their tag team division change into something a little different.

AEW President Tony Khan took part in a media call to promote this week’s special edition of Dynamite, during which he was asked about potential Trios Tag Team Titles. Khan said that they are something that has been discussed and the company is considering them. This comes after Kenny Omega announced the titles during the Chris Jericho Cruise, though the belts were never officially introduced. There is no word on when the belts would be introduced.

There are a few teams to pick from. Check out who might be the first champions:

Opinion: This is hardly surprising after the announcement that was already made on the cruise though it is nice to see that they are still an idea. AEW has the roster to make this work and given the amount of teams that they already have, it could be nice to see some of them split more towards the Trios Titles than the regular versions. Hopefully this works out, though I’m not sure when things are going to start.

What do you think of the idea? Who would be the inaugural champions? Let us know in the comments below.
