Brian Pillman Jr. made his debut this weekend in Indianapolis, defeating Johnathan Wolf at an Indianapolis Championship Wrestling show that took place in the clubhouse of an apartment complex.
After their match, which was filmed by a member of the audience in attendance, Wolf took to his Twitter account to say he is honored to have been Pillman’s first opponent and he is the real deal.
I? just wanted to say @FlyinBrianJr is the real deal and I?m honored to be your first match

This prompted Pillman to respond, thanking Wolf for taking care of him. He called wrestling beautiful and said he is blessed.
Thank you for taking care of me tonight! Wrestling is such a beautiful and exhilarating thing when the 2 people in the ring have a special bond like we had as soon as we met. You are so young yet so wise…
BLESSED is the only word I can think of right now!!! ???? https://t.co/SZTZTZuIcc

It is worth noting that Pillman additionally competed in a battle royal Main Event later in the evening. From what we understand he wasn’t successful in that.
Pillman also took to his Instagram account to post a lengthy message following his debut. He said:
“While I am normally a man of many words, I just don’t know how I could sum up the way last night made me feel using only text.
So here is a picture. Maybe it’s worth a thousand words, maybe it’s worth more, maybe less… But whatever you take from it just know that the way I felt in this photo is the most alive I’ve ever felt in my entire life.
I’ve received a lot of attention and congratulations after news broke of my independent debut and I am blown away by the love from ALL of you!
Just this once though, I ask YOU for a favor. Whether it’s a comment on instagram, a direct message, or a tweet I don’t want it sent straight to me. I want you to type it all out just as you normally would but this time before you hit that send button I want you to send it to Brian Pillman.
Not Brian Pillman Jr., not Brian Pillman II, no I mean BIG BRIAN! Brian Pillman Sr., The Hollywood Blond Brian Pillman. The Loose Cannon… My FATHER!
Whether it’s a prayer, a mental note, or just a written letter I want you to send it up above and let him know how you feel. How you feel about what he left behind for you, for me, for us, his LEGACY. Because had he not given every ounce of life force that he had for this world, had he not made every heartbeat count then I certainly wouldn’t be here today and of course professional wrestling just wouldn’t be the same as we all know and love it.
THANK YOU everyone for reaching out to him and
THANK YOU to Scott Romer for capturing this moment
THANK YOU dad for this amazing gift called PRO WRESTLING!!!”

Earlier this year Pillman Jr. reached out to Lance Storm wanting to join the professional wrestling industry, also explaining to Wrestle:List this past Summer why he wants to go to WWE.
“I will tell you right now that I think the company that will benefit the most from me becoming a wrestler would be the federation [WWE], just because they have the trademarks, they have the name and they have the merchandising of my father,” Pillman Jr. said. “So I think it would be wise for me to go there. Obviously at the end of the day we want to make a good living for ourselves and we want to make it as big as we can.
“I think it might be smart for me to perform on the indies for while to get experience in the event that I might not make it, that way I’d still make a living for myself. I will say that making it to the big leagues, making it to WWE would be a dream come true. It would be the ultimate goal to follow in my father’s footsteps. One guy I look to, to compare what my possibilities would be is Cody Rhodes. Obviously he had the father and the whole legacy going for him and he went to the WWE and it wasn’t a good fit for him. He didn’t want to go with their plans and he had bigger plans for himself. Just seeing him thrive and doing so well on the independent scene has given me more options.”
Pillman was only three years old when his father passed away on October 5, 1997 due to a heart attack. Said heart attack was caused by what was previously an undetected heart condition by the name of ‘arteriosclerotic heart disease,’ which had led to Pillman Sr.’s father passing away years before him too. This condition may potentially run within the family.
Local 12 News ran an incredible story on Pillman and what his goals are. He looks the part and definitely gives off an emotional aura in the station’s interview with him. Check the video out below. It is less than three minutes in length.
Do you expect to see Pillman in WWE any time soon? Were you aware Pillman Sr. had a son?
