Former WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns has officially made his return to the ring. At the official WWE press conference for WrestleMania 36, Reigns spoke about his desire to compete in an event that will be “full of moments” when WWE comes to Tampa Bay next year.
In a subsequent interview with WFF, Reigns was asked to discuss his role in WWE now that 16-time World Champion John Cena is no longer a full-time competitor. Additionally, Reigns was asked who he wants to face next year at WrestleMania 36.
Over the past few years, Reigns has become one of the most prominent Superstars on WWE’s main roster. As the video below shows, Reigns’ career has already seen “The Big Dog” become a multi-time Champion and achieve more milestones than most other competitors on the roster.
Reigns has always been considered the next face for WWE. With Cena now focusing more on acting as he transitions away from the ring, Reigns revealed in the interview that he feels much more pressure to perform at a high level.
“I do believe I’ve always been the face of WWE. [With] a huge name like John Cena no longer being a full-time performer, I think there’s as much, if not more, pressure on me to do my job at a high level.”
“I also think it’s across the locker room, you know, I’m not the only guy that feels that way. Yeah, I guarantee you Seth Rollins feels the exact same way I feel, he feels that same pressure to perform, and to keep our product at a premium.”
Next year, WWE will arrive at Tampa Bay as WrestleMania 36 eminates from Raymond James Stadium. Reigns discusses who he would like to stand across the ring from at that event.
“I think I’d like to close the show, and I think I’d like to wrestle Seth Rollins for the Universal Championship. I’d like to get my rematch one year from now.”
In speaking of Rollins and Reigns- the two will reunite with Ambrose this weekend at WWE Fastlane as The Shield take on Drew McIntyre, Baron Corbin, and Bobby Lashley.
Editor’s Note:
I would love to see this match. Closer to the time there may be a few other interesting match choices, though. I know he wants the women to main event this year, at least.
Do you want to see that match? Is it possible?
