The show, supposedly titled “Heels,” is to be a pro wrestling based drama. Punk is being considered as he impressed the casting directors. He is currently in the final step before being offered the role.
The drama was fast-tracked a few months ago, with the plan being for the first season to be eight episodes each at one hour length. The story is built around two brothers, a heel and a babyface.
They have struggles on-camera and behind the scenes following the death of their father, who would be a promoter of a Georgia-based pro wrestling promotion that the brothers worked for.
At one point, Punk was considered for the role of a brother called Jack Spade, the heel. The producers had hoped to cast Harry Cavill and Jack Reynor as the lead roles at one point, but this is no longer thought to be the case.
There is no word yet on when the show is scheduled to premiere as it is on-hold by producers. This isn’t the first time it has, either. The script was first announced last February and as of this week, only one pilot script has been written by Michael Waldron.
Please bear in mind that Punk DOES NOT currently have the role and is in the testing stage. As previously mentioned, this is the final stage before he is accepted into the role. We at Wrestling Rumors will keep you up to date as more information becomes available.
If you’re interested in seeing what Punk has been up to since leaving WWE, we highly suggest giving the following music video a listen. Not only is it a great, addictive song, but Punk is featured primarily in it as a wrestler.
