Paul Heyman was interviewed by Digital Spy, where he spoke about CM Punk’s likelihood to come back to WWE, Goldberg going into the Hall of Fame, Hulk Hogan in WWE and of course, the match at ‘WrestleMania 34’ between his client Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns.

Heyman first explained why he is inducting Bill Goldberg into the WWE Hall of Fame this year, given his recent rivalry with Lesnar.

“I am inducting Goldberg because that was Bill Goldberg’s specific request to WWE. Bill Goldberg personally requested that I induct him into the Hall of Fame. I have such respect for Goldberg as so far the one person who has truly taken the fight to Brock Lesnar in WWE.

“I also got a chance to witness him behind the scenes as a man, a husband, a father and I have the utmost respect for him as a human being and am honored to be the one to encapsulate this moment for him and be the one to formally induct him into the Hall of Fame.

“I also understand his WCW audience’s passion that somebody from WCW be the one that inducts Bill into the Hall of Fame, but this was his wish and I would suggest that it is much a personal wish as it is a professional wish.

“And there is an entire audience of WWE fans that will tell you that Goldberg’s match with Lesnar at Survivor Series, which Bill won in a minute and a half, was the crowning moment of Bill Goldberg’s career.

“That the true story of Goldberg wasn’t just his rampage through the ranks in WCW and then his brief run in WWE, but the fact that 12 years after he had ever stepped into a ring he came back in top form, probably better than ever, at the peak of his game as a completely different man, but not a different character. To many, that was the crowning achievement of Goldberg.”

The famous manager explains whether he would like to see the dream match between Lesnar and Daniel Bryan now that the latter has been cleared.

“I was always, no pun intended, an advocate for Brock Lesnar versus Daniel Bryan. I make no predictions about Brock Lesnar’s opponents after April 8. Brock Lesnar is a goal-oriented, hyper-focused individual, right now the only thing on his mind is main eventing WrestleMania against Roman Reigns.”

Heyman is asked what he anticipates the response to be from those in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome as Lesnar and Reigns take to the ring.

“Passionate. I’m not someone who concerns himself with whether people pay to cheer Roman Reigns or whether people pay to boo Roman Reigns. People pay to see Roman Reigns. They pay to react to Roman Reigns.

“And whether it’s 60,000 people who’ve paid to cheer Roman Reigns or 60,000 people who’ve paid to boo Roman Reigns, or 60,000 people who’ve paid to do both, there are 60,000 people who’ve paid to see Roman Reigns in the main event and that’s evident in the fact that Roman Reigns has main evented now four consecutive WrestleManias.

“When you consider the fact that top flight, tier one, Class A superstars have retired from sports entertainment because they could not get into the main event of WrestleMania even once, and Roman Reigns has now main evented four times, that shows you the enormous box-office appeal of this WWE Superstar.”

He continues by answering how Lesnar should feel knowing that Reigns remembers how close he was to victory at ‘WrestleMania 31’ before Seth Rollins cashed in his Money in the Bank briefcase and left as WWE Champion.

Heyman is good friends with Phil Brooks, the man behind the character of CM Punk. He was asked whether main eventing ‘WrestleMania’ would bring the former WWE Champion back.

“I don’t think Phil Brooks thinks about WWE at all anymore. I would hope that he doesn’t. I would hope that he is of the focused mindset in propelling himself into the ranks of UFC. I don’t think it’s a matter of positioning or money or spotlight anymore.

“I think it’s a matter of his dream is to become a successful UFC fighter and he doesn’t even have a thought regarding WWE, at least I would hope that he doesn’t. Because I don’t know how it would be considered productive for him to do so.”

Hogan has been in the news recently, with their being a potential for him to come back to WWE. Heyman gives his opinion, answering whether Lesnar would be a good opponent for the ‘Hulkamaniac.’

“I’m not a ticket buyer. Nor am I part of the target demographic that is catered to subscribe to the WWE Network. So whether or not I want Hulk Hogan back in WWE is irrelevant. It’s whether the audience and the advertisers and the sponsors and the chairman of the board want Hulk Hogan back in WWE.

“And when those stars align Hulk Hogan will be back and until then he won’t. My opinion on Hulk Hogan coming back to WWE, whether pro or con, is irrelevant and so is everyone else’s besides the audience itself, the sponsors themselves and the chairman himself.

“As for Hulk Hogan stepping into the ring with Brock Lesnar, Brock Lesnar is focused on April 8, he’s focused on Roman Reigns, he’s focused on the main event of WrestleMania. We have not discussed any potential WWE opponents past April 8 because Brock’s focus is on delivering a main event for the ages at WrestleMania this year.”

Finally, Heyman explains in length why Reigns vs. Lesnar should be the main event of ‘WrestleMania 34.’

“Brock Lesnar versus Roman Reigns is the main event of this year’s WrestleMania because there’s more interest in this match than there is in any other. Period. Exclamation point. That’s the match that sells this show.

“All these other matches are very intriguing. Each one of them is worthy of insight and preview and speculation. But only one can be the true main event. Only one can be the match that’s listed in the history books as: This was the most important. This drew the attention, this is what we banked on.

“And on Sunday, April 8, 2018, WrestleMania 34 we are banking on Brock Lesnar vs Roman Reigns in the main event. That’s no disrespect to anyone else who plays a vital role on this show. It really isn’t.

“AJ Styles versus Nakamura is a fascinating match-up. Ronda Rousey in her debut teaming with a fellow Olympian Kurt Angle against the First Couple of the WWE Triple H and Stephanie McMahon. The fascinating match-up on so many different levels.

“John Cena having called out The Undertaker is of a historic nature that can’t be oversold. And again, what a fantastic thing to speculate about. But there’s only one true main event. And that main event happens to be Brock Lesnar versus Roman Reigns.

“If someone else in this time period before WrestleMania can create such interest that the show’s fortune rides on them, then they will replace Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar in the main event of WrestleMania. But until that happens I think we have enough on our side of the argument to continue the public interest and the public intrigue in this match.”
