Working with the WWE keeps Mick Foley’s schedule booked solid, so it makes sense that he’d want to take some much-deserved time off, but many fans find the timing of this news pretty odd.

Pro Wrestling Sheet reported that Foley is taking the rest of December off from appearing in WWE programming. “Mick is taking time off to spend the holidays with his family and do his volunteer work as Santa,” their source said. The company insists that he hasn’t been suspended or fired for any reason.

It’s no surprise that he’d want to spend time with loved ones during this season, and he’s known for his obsession with Christmas and his love of dressing up as Santa Claus, even dedicating an entire room in his home to the holiday.

However, besides being the acting General Manager for Monday Night Raw, he’s been right in the middle of a storyline with Sami Zayn and Braun Strowman. This week’s show made no mention of his planned time off, either. It seems strange that he would disappear without notice and leave everything hanging.

According to WWE officials, he won’t be gone too long. “He will return to Raw on Monday, January 2,” they said.

What do you think? Would Foley really vanish without a word until 2017, or will he find a way to balance his position of authority with his passion for playing Santa? Let us know in the comments below, or share your thoughts on our Facebook page.
