Uh….sure. Continuing with its bizarre list of guest stars on “Smackdown Live”, which has included Aaron Carter and Freddie Prinze Jr., WWE has announced that actor Ryan Phillippe will appear on the December 20, 2016 episode of “Smackdown Live”. This is likely due to Randy Orton appearing on Phillippe’s USA Network show “Shooter” earlier this month.

You might not remember it but this is actually Phillippe’s second appearance on WWE TV. Back on the April 19, 2010 episode of “Monday Night Raw”, Phillippe appeared with his “MacGruber” co-stars Will Forte and Kristen Wiig to promote their film, which also featured various WWE performers such as Kane, Mark Henry, Great Khali, Big Show, MVP and Chris Jericho.

I’m sure this is probably a USA decision but what is this supposed to accomplish? How many people are going to see Phillippe on “Smackdown Live” and then go and watch “Shooter?” This is at least better than some of the nonsense WWE has done over the years as an action series might have a better shot at crossover appeal but it still really doesn’t seem to accomplish that much.
