In some news that will likely satisfy the hunger for many fans of WWE’s “Attitude Era,” it appears one of the company’s legendary tag teams could be back in a WWE ring sometime in the not so distant future.
According to a report by PWInsider, there is some movement on both ends to get Bubba Ray, also known as Bully Ray in TNA, and Devon back in WWE sometime soon. Additionally, the report states there is mutual interest.
Ray and Devon recently finished up their latest run with TNA after the former signed a short-term extension to stay with the company through “Bound For Glory,” which aired this past Sunday. It is unlikely, due to TNA’s budget situation, Team 3D returns to the company, even if the organization does sign a new television deal shortly.
At “Bound For Glory,” Ray declared war on the Bullet Club, the faction currently dominating New Japan Pro Wrestling. It is likely the duo will go after them first, before pursuing anything in WWE.
The Dudleyz left WWE in 2005, and had a legal dispute with the company after WWE claimed to own the “Dudley” name despite the two using it while in ECW. But as WWE bought ECW in 2001, it retained all of its assets, including the name. The two had 10 Tag Team Championship reigns in WWE, while Ray went on to achieve singles success in TNA, becoming a multi-time TNA World Heavyweight Champion.
Editor’s Note
Words cannot express how much I would love to see this happen. But it needs to not happen in the way the New Age Outlaws made their recent return. Keep them face, and have them go at it with a younger team.
