“NXT Takeover 2” is just under two weeks away, and many fans are looking forward to seeing the performance of NXT Women’s Champion Charlotte. At the last “NXT Takeover,” Charlotte and WWE Diva Natalya put on a five-star clinic that received praise throughout the wrestling industry.
Now, however, there are rumors that Charlotte’s match vs. Bayley at the show may be among her last in NXT.
According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, there has been talk of having Charlotte drop the title to the challenger, which would eventually lead to her getting called up to the main roster. However, not only would she be called up, but at the same time, paired with her real-life father Ric Flair, with him serving as a sort of manager. Meltzer believes this would be WWE’s way of getting Flair on television, as it has been reported they have had nothing for him.
Flair did last appear this past Monday on “Raw,” however, in a Hall of Fame Forum discussing the John Cena vs. Brock Lesnar rematch at “Night of Champions.”
It was also noted in the report the company has been using Sasha Banks run-ins as a way to cost Charlotte in non-title matches at live events between her and Bayley, which could be a foreshadowing of what is seen at the special event. It had been reported earlier this month this was a title change that was being looked at, and it appears it may come to fruition.
Editor’s Note
I’m in support of it. Charlotte is a damn fine wrestler, and would work well on the main roster in a babyface or heel role. I can dig it.
