Following Tuesday night’s Smackdown tapings, word going around backstage was reportedly that The Rock will not need surgery following pulling out of Monday night’s appearance on RAW. As we previously reported, which was confirmed by The Rock himself, he tore his abdomen and abductor muscles in his match at WrestleMania 29 with John Cena.

With the word coming of no necessary surgery, many felt that this may have been a fake injury, just to take time away and film. The Rock will be filming “Hercules” soon, one of the major blockbusters he is set to star in over the next year. However, it appears the injury is very much legitimate.

On Monday night’s RAW, Smackdown general manager Booker T stated The Rock was still the No. 1 contender to John Cena’s title. It is unsure on when and if this match will take place.
