WWE Superstar Cesaro chatted with former champion Chris Jericho on his Talk is Jericho podcast this past week. Below are some of the highlights:
On obtaining a wrestling style in Ring of Honor and how it translates to WWE:
“ECW and Ring of Honor had similarities to me as it did with you and your group of guys. There’s no style. as long as you do what you do well, the crowd will appreciate it. You had the guys who were hardcore, you had the funny stuff. As long as you do it well, the fans will appreciate it. I feel like it’s the same at the WWE level.”
On how one can learn in WWE:
“There was nobody around to learn from in [in the indies]. It was very subtle there was a show where there was a veteran there, it was all trial and error. Then you come to WWE, there’s so many people you can ask. From all the agents who have been around for a while. To me that’s very refreshing and I said I want to go to WWE to learn all that knowledge.”
Getting his WrestleMania moment this year:
“To win the Andre The Giant Battle Royal at my first WrestleMania, that was pretty surreal. It definitely was and I was very proud of it and it’s kind of funny because that’s always in every step of your career or with guys like us it’s like ‘okay, now the hard work begins,’ so it’s always like you go to the next step and you have to get better and better and better more and more and more and that’s not like, ‘oh no I want more,’ but it’s like ‘okay, now it’s time to always deliver.’
I think it was like I had the WrestleMania moment, and then the “Raw” moment afterwards as well. I was very grateful for that and it was very satisfying and now it’s kind of, ‘okay, let’s go.'”
He also talked learning from Zeb Colter and subsequently, getting to work with Paul Heyman:
“When you drive for four hours, yes there’s going to be an hour of quiet time, in between there’s a lot of music you talk a lot about wrestling. You throw ideas out. You get told, ‘oh this is stupid,’ you get a different perspective of things. Especially from somebody who has been around for so long like Zeb has, then to be get a chance to talk with someone else who has been around, like you said, maybe the best mouth piece in the business right now, that’s just an awesome chance.”
Cesaro spent a lot of time talking about Ring of Honor and coming to the United States to wrestle. The whole interview can be found here.
Editor’s Note
Phenomenal interview here with Cesaro. You can tell how much the man loves wrestling, and it’s basically a history lesson. Definitely listen to it.
