WWE World Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar has been making the headlines of the wrestling world over the past 24 hours, as he announced Tuesday night he would retire from mixed martial arts and remain with WWE going forward. UFC President Dana White offered his support for Lesnar in an interview just following the announcement, and understood his decision to re-sign with WWE.
In an update from F4WOnline, it appears WWE may continue to have big plans for Lesnar even after his WrestleMania bout with Roman Reigns for the championship.
According to the outlet, WWE wishes to turn Lesnar babyface in the near future. The consensus, per Dave Meltzer, is Lesnar will be portrayed as the mega babyface by the crowd at Levi’s Stadium due to the split decisiveness over Reigns. With him re-signing, he notes this will allow WWE to move forward with him as a babyface sometime soon, as many have discussed in the past.
Lesnar noted he announced he would re-sign ahead of WrestleMania because he didn’t want fans thinking the big event would be the last time he’d be in a WWE ring and he owed it to them to be transparent.
Editor’s Note
There is a whole new dynamic added to Lesnar re-signing and what it does for Mania. Both men could in theory walk out as faces, if Lesnar were to say, thwart a cash-in by Rollins. Interested to see what happens.
