Booker T is expected to be announced as a major name for the 2013 WWE Hall of Fame class, several outlets are reporting. The announcement has supposedly been kept under wraps for secrecy purposes, but rumors claim that WWE has been at work putting together a video package for the induction.
Booker, who’s real last name is Huffman, came to WWE in 2001 during the Invasion angle after WCW was purchased by Vince McMahon. In WCW, Booker was a four-time WCW Champion, a title that he would carry for a fifth time heading into WWE. He also held the WCW World Tag Team Championship 10 times, the WCW World Television Championship six times and was the last WCW United States Champion in WCW itself.
Unlike many of his fellow former WCW coworkers, his success carried over to WWE, where he would capture the World Heavyweight Championship after winning King of the Ring in the mid-2000s, alongside a plethora of other titles. Huffman would eventually depart WWE for a stint in TNA, before ultimately returning at the 2011 Royal Rumble. Following this, he would spend time as a color commentator on Smackdown, before settling in as the general manager of the blue show.
Should the rumors be true, he will join an elite class for this year’s induction. Already announced are Bruno Sammartino, Trish Stratus, Bob Backlund and Donald Trump.
