In 2012, major independent star Sami Callihan wrestled a dark match for WWE’s Smackdown brand, where he was defeated by NXT Superstar Johnny Curtis, trying out his new Fandango gimmick. In April of 2013, news broke that WWE was interested in the former CZW Champion, and that he was undergoing the necessary medical tests required before a wrestler is able to compete with WWE’s developmental promotion.

Now, it appears Big Japan Pro-Wrestling is offering a full refund for their upcoming May 24th RISING event, as Sami Callihan’s WWE contract “has been decided”, and the star has been pulled from the independent appearance. Callihan is well known for several of his matches with Ring of Honor and PWG Champion Adam Cole, who is notably also in line for a  WWE tryout, according to various reports.
