CM Punk’s WWE status has been up in the air and widely discussed over the last few months, as he takes time off to heal up from nagging injuries which have built up over the last few years. The former WWE Champion was scheduled to make his return to Monday Night Raw later this May, most likely to build up a match for the WWE Payback pay-per-view in his hometown of Chicago. However, as of this weekend, Punk has been removed from all WWE appearances through the end of the summer, including WWE’s world tour shows in Japan.

WWE.com is also running a story about Punk’s absence, wondering if and when he will ever return to in-ring action. The article mentions his presence at various Chicago baseball games, attending UFC 159 on pay-per-view to support Chael Sonnen, and more.
