It’s off again, on again, and off again for a potential WWE buyout of the financially struggling TNA. Reports were in early this week that Vince McMahon’s company was seeking to pick up TNA, but it seems that this deal is now off the table.
If the purchase had gone through WWE would likely have shut down the company, as they would be interested primarily in TNA’s tape library and some of their talent contracts. In addition, they would have required a non-compete contract to be signed.

According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dixie Carter has the final say in who purchases TNA and is interested in ensuring that the company continues to exist in the future. That would not be the case under the proposed WWE deal.
Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan is still the name at the forefront of most TNA buyout talks, as he’s personally financed several of the company’s recent TV tapings and is optimistic that this weekend’s Bound for Glory pay-per-view will go on as planned.
Nonetheless, it sounds like Corgan is less than enthused about the idea of personally financing a full buyout of TNA, and is seeking outside investment to keep the show running.
