The first sets of teams for NXT’s Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic have been announced, and they include one very surprising pair.

We thought we’d seen the last of Kota Ibushi in WWE after he was defeated in the semi-finals of the Cruiserweight Classic, but it looks like he’s getting another big run NXT alongside his countryman, Hideo Itami.

The two will pair up to take on fifteen other teams in the Tag Team Classic named for the late, great Dusty Rhodes.

Other teams announced for the tournament include, as expected, Tag Team Champions the Revival, as well as their rivals Tommaso Ciampa and Johnny Gargano. Bobby Roode and Tye Dillinger announced their partnership on last night’s episode of NXT, and they’re joined by the hot properties of Cedric Alexander and Andrade “Cien” Almas as well as newcomers Tino Sabbatelli and Riddick Moss.

The tournament is setting up to be an exciting one, and Ibushi’s continued involvement with WWE has hopes high that he’ll be joining the company in a more permanent capacity.
