It’s that special day of the year—WrestleMania. It’s WWE’s gala event, a combination of big wrestling matches, celebrity appearances, and a scale of production rarely seen in the sports entertainment world. As a hardcore fan, it’s tough not to be disappointed with the card going into the show, given how many dream matches we were inches away from seeing, and the stars who aren’t on the show this year. But come on, it’s WrestleMania.
No match at this WrestleMania has been promoted longer, or entertained as much real-life drama, as this contest between Seth Rollins and Triple H. Seth missed last year’s show due to injury, and reaggravated that injury just before the big day this year. He’s cleared to compete, but has now spent WrestleMania week under the weather—and some are suggesting that illness might be pneumonia. Yet with his opponent as Triple H, a non-sanctioned stipulation, and potential interference from Samoa Joe, the on-screen story was just as interesting as the behind-the-scenes drama.
As expected, it was a brawl involving no shortage of chairs–and Triple H’s signature sledgehammer. The finish saw Stephanie McMahon at ringside sent through a table, after which Seth hit Triple H with a long-teased pedigree for the victory.
