It’s that special day of the year—WrestleMania. It’s WWE’s gala event, a combination of big wrestling matches, celebrity appearances, and a scale of production rarely seen in the sports entertainment world. As a hardcore fan, it’s tough not to be disappointed with the card going into the show, given how many dream matches we were inches away from seeing, and the stars who aren’t on the show this year. But come on, it’s WrestleMania.
Baron Corbin made a solid debut at last year’s WrestleMania by winning the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal, and after spending most of the last year in a midcard holding pattern he’s got an Intercontinental Championship opportunity against Dean Ambrose. This was a sleeper match to be sure, but could be a breakout opportunity for Corbin in particular.
We didn’t expect it to be such a “sleeper” that it ended up on the pre-show, however. Maybe not the most auspicious place for one of WWE’s most historic titles, but such it is. Dean Ambrose retained the title with Dirty Deeds.
