We recently heard some reports that a new name would be making the Hall of Fame soon. Alas, it seems that report was unfounded, and we’ve got to do our due diligence in making sure this wrestling rumor is squashed.
We’d heard a report that William Regal would be added to the Hall of Fame this year, which came to us by way of PWInsider. Now, the same source is reporting that Regal will not be part of the class of 2017.
It seems Regal was indeed being discussed for an induction, but WWE officials have elected to hold off on bringing him in just yet.
WWE announced the recipient of the Warrior Award yesterday. That is Eric LeGrand, a former collegiate football player who suffered a spinal cord injury that left him paralyzed from the neck down. His rehabilitation became the subject of national interest, and he’s since become a motivational speaker.
The one aspect of this year’s Hall of Fame that is not yet certain is the celebrity wing inductee. Shaquille O’Neal and Cyndi Lauper are the names most speculated upon, but with Shaq’s WrestleMania appearance evaporating in controversy and Lauper scheduled for an Australian tour that weekend, those seem unlikely.Do you think Regal deserves a Hall of Fame spot?
