So much for that. Last week saw the big relaunch of “Impact Wrestling” under the new ownership and featuring lal the new changes. One of these was the debut of some new talent, including Alberto El Patron. In his debut match, El Patron defeated TNA World Champion Lashley, albeit in controversial fashion. It was so controversial that something had to be done.

That’s exactly what has happened as El Patron has officially relinquished the Impact Wrestling World Title, which will be returned to Lashley.

This comes after his title win consisted of two referee bumps and then a title belt shot to Lashley’s head.

The show ended with Lashley arguing his case to the referees as El Patron left with the title.

Opinion: You had to expect something like this was coming, which doesn’t really make it the best news in the world. This feels like a way to hit the ground running, though I really question the logic in having the World Champion lose a fall to set up someone who is already a star due to being a former multiple time WWE World Champion. But at least it’s better than the usual and offers some fresh blood to the stale main event scene.

Who challenges Lashley next? Should El Patron get an actual title reign? Let us know in the comments below.
